DESCRIPTION
Dow Corning® 190 Fluid is 100% active silicone copolymer imparting instant wetting and drop absorption properties. The copolymer is soluble in water and is applied by padding or spraying. The hydrophilicity is assessed with a ‘Lister tester’ which measures strikethrough time (EDANA test method 150.2-93).
BENEFITS
Dow Corning® 190 Fluid imparts instant wetting, and moisture transfer across non-woven substrates. Strikethrough times have been measured on polypropylene 20g/m2 and 70g/m2 , and polyester 34g/m2 , after applying 0.5% silicone (by weight of substrate). Values have been reported on graph 1, 2 and 3.
HOW TO USE
Dow Corning® 190 Fluid can be dissolved by adding water at room temperature, or cooler, if necessary. Stir with good agitation to form a solution that will be stable for several days. The solution can then be applied to the non-woven substrate by padding or spraying, after the web has been formed. The web should then be dried before rolling. A concentration as low as 0.5% silicone (by weight of substrate) is sufficient to achieve good hydrophilicity.
• Provides hydrophilicity of non-woven substrates, particularly polyolefin coverstocks
• 100% active
• Soluble in water and alcohol
• Improves feel of treated non-woven • Good compatibility with PU
• Profoamer for PU foam coatings
• Leveling agent
• Non-reactive
